Recentering Food and Sustainability
As we forge a new movement in the local and sustainable food space, it is paramount that we are breaking down the barriers for those most marginalized by the dominant food system, recognizing the original leaders of sustainable food practices, and centering their needs and voices. Food systems change will never be truly complete unless it is built on a foundation of food sovereignty and food justice.
It is important to us at NGM to lift up the voices of those that may be excluded from local and sustainable food spaces, in order to learn why their inclusion is necessary and beneficial to us all. That’s why we have started a non-exhaustive directory of resources - with everything from podcasts to movies to academic articles - for recentering food and sustainability.
