Cooking 4 Community
Cooking 4 Community is a collaborative Edmonton-based initiative that pairs food skill-building with the chance to support local food security.
New Grocery Movement is teaming up with Touch Grass Club and the AUUC Youth Council to bring you community cooking classes!

Cooking 4 Community was a 6-month initiative that ran from January to June 2025. Once a month, community members gathered at Edmonton’s Ukrainian Centre to learn the recipe for a cultural dish, cook together in large batches, and package warm meals to be shared with neighbours experiencing food insecurity.
Each month featured a new cultural dish, led by a knowledgeable community member or organization who shared the story behind the recipe and its importance to their culture. These classes were a chance to learn, connect, and contribute. Join us in our next class and explore new flavours, improve cooking skills and food knowledge, and help us fight food insecurity in our community.
We are grateful to The Cherry Pit and Bear Claw who are partnering for this initiative to distribute our warm meals to neighbours. We are also grateful to APIRG and the City of Edmonton for sponsoring this initiative with funding support.
Our Cooking for Community classes are taking a short break and will return at the end of 2025!
We’re excited to bring back more hands-on, cooking experiences that celebrate food and community.
